The alumni basketball games were held on December 21, 2007. There were 17 ladies and 22 guys who came out to spend some time reconnecting with past school mates. The guys game had to be split up because there were so many alumni ready to show their stuff. In the end, the old alumni (pre-2002) won both their matchups against the young alumni and the senior boys to claim bragging rights for another year. Three dunks by Mac and some hot shooting by Vince led the old guys (can we really call guys who are just turning 30 old???).
Joe Vroom (grad 2005) is in his third year at Trinity Western University. Joe was the Fraser Valley MVP and Provincial MVP his senior year at ACS, leading the Knights to their 3rd Provincial Championship. Vroom has worked hard on his game and is playing a significant role on the Spartan's squad this year. The run and gun style that TWU uses fits perfectly with Vroom's skills. This could be a break out season for the 6'8" forward. Go to a TWU game this season and cheer Joe on.
Lisa Bomhof (ACS 2006) is starting her 2nd year at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford. She will again be a member of the women's basketball team at Columbia. She has moved into the starting line up this year and is making a serious contribution for the lady bearcats. Check out the CBC website to go watch Lisa play some games during the season.
Malcolm Campbell graduated from ACS in 1996. After graduation he played basketball at UCFV for one year, and then transferred to Trinity Western University in Langley, where he played for four years. He finished his CIS career in 2001. In September 2001 Mac enrolled in Bible School in Holsby Brunn, Sweden and played basketball at the school. In 2002 and 2003 Mac took his 6'9" frame and played professional basketball in Sweden; one season in Division 1 and one season in the Swedish National League (Basketligan). In April 2004 Malcolm returned to Canada and spent the 2004-2005 season as an assistant coach at TWU with the men's basketball team. He graduated from TWU with a major in History, a minor in Human Kinetics and a minor in Education. After completing his B.Ed. at SFU, he moved to Dalian, China where he taught PE and Social Studies in an offshore school. Now he's back at TWU again as the assistant coach of the men's team. Mac was our first former player to play CIS, the first player to play overseas, and now he is our first player to coach at the CIS level. We're proud of you, Malcolm.
