Technical Education Programs

Abbotsford Christian School offers many programs in technical education and applied skills.
Computer Literacy

Computer Literacy

Computer Literacy begins in the primary grades with age and curriculum appropriate educational software. Keyboarding, word processing, file management, internet research, and presentation development are part of the program as students move up through intermediate, middle and secondary education.

Secondary School Apprenticeship Program (SSA)

For those interested in a trade or specialty beyond the scope of the facilities at Abbotsford Christian School, a full apprenticeship program is offered. This allows students to pursue a trade within the context of the full Abbotsford Christian School program. Students are registered with the Industry Training Authority and several students have gone on to complete the full requirements of a first year apprenticeship well within a year of grade 12 graduation.
To date, ACS has registered 66+ students with ITA.

Automotive Technology Program

The secondary campus boasts well equipped automotive technology facilities.  Students learn the intracies of automotive mechanics. A drag car racing program is also available for students with a particular interest in automotives. This program has been very successful at provincial and national championships.

ACE-IT Program

ACS-Secondary Campus is pleased to be able to offer the ACE-IT program (Accelerated Credit Enrollment in Industry Training) for Auto Service Technician Level 1.
This is a unique opportunity for students to "jump start" their career by gaining Level 1 Technical Training credits (college credits) while receiving high school credits by completing the ACS Mechanics program and the Level 1 exam in Grade 12.

Woodworking

Woodworking The secondary campus has a well equipped woodworking shop where students design and build fine furniture and other projects.

 
 

Home Economics Program

Home Economics Program
Abbotsford Christian Secondary also has a complete Home Economics program including food studies and clothing and textiles courses. As part of the program, students prepare and serve full course meals for events such as the annual banquet for long time supporters of the school. Clothing and Textiles put on a fashion show during the annual Celebration Week held in May to model their designs and creations.
