Abbotsford Christian School History

Abbotsford Christian School began in 1953 with 75 students in grades one to eight. Today, approximately 1000 students from preschool to grade 12 attend ACS on three campuses, and are taught by fully qualified BC government certified teachers.

ACS Timeline

  • 1950 Abbotsford Christian School Society is formed
  • 1953 ACS opens with 75 Students
  • 1953-60 Classes meet in church basement
  • 1960 First four classrooms built on Abbotsford Mission highway site - Heritage Campus
  • 1966-67 Further Expansions of the Elementary School
  • 1973 Second elementary campus established on Old Clayburn Road
  • 1976 Gym expanded on Old Clayburn; Junior secondary established
  • 1981 First grade 12 graduating class
  • 1985 Heritage Elementary Campus destroyed by fire on May 1st
  • 1986 Campus rebuilt on existing foundations
  • 1986-91 Nine portables added, prompted by rapid growth
  • 1992 Clayburn-Hills campus opens
  • 1996 Secondary Campus expanded
  • 1999 Apprenticeship program started
  • 2003 50th Anniversary Celebration!
  • 2003-2004 - Building of the Middle School and Sale of Heritage Campus to Gateway Community Church.
