One of the exciting elements in Middle School is the dedicated time for training and implementing our grade 8 Service Leadership. All of our grade 8 students have been involved in some aspect of service leadership in the past. The difference this year is in the time that is built into the schedule. There are so many opportunities to serve!
One example of grade 8 Servant Leadership is the newly formed MAC, or Middle school Announcement Crew. This is a group of students who meet almost every Friday morning to research, write, video and edit a one to two minute video of campus announcements. These announcements are then shared with each homeroom the following Monday morning.
Another example of grade 8 service leadership is the School Spirit Squad. These students meet regularly to plan and implement fun activities and theme days for the entire school.
Other areas of servant leadership include the Gym Rats who help with open gym times and intramurals, Office Helpers who cover the office at break, the Green Team who lead the school in our recycling program. We also appreciate our Praise Team who lead worship during our Middle School chapels.
Others helping with chapels include the sound crews, the chapel clean-up crew, and a group of students who put together PowerPoint slideshows for chapels.
Other students are involved in our French Café once a week, officiating at sporting events, pizza sales once a week, helping with campus cleaning and maintenance (our GO Team), or taking pictures for the grade 8 yearbook.
