French

We have been given the gift of languages to open up avenues of communication and equip us to live in community and fellowship with all peoples and cultures.  Language, in spoken and written form, allows us to broaden our experience of creation and knowledge of the world God has created.  The celebration of creation’s riches must also extend to an embracing of linguistic diversity and the many opportunities this presents to us as active participants within the global community.  The study of other languages is a God-given calling and privilege to be pursued with pleasure and diligence.

At Abbotsford Christian School students are involved in the process of learning French beginning in Grade One.  This early French instruction seeks to foster love of language learning, develop vocabulary, and participation in communicative experiences, all of which prepares the students for extending French language learning throughout middle school.

All students at Abbotsford Christian Middle School participate in the process of studying French.  The curriculum at ACMS strives to enrich student understanding and use of French language and culture. Our goal is to provide meaningful and purposeful language learning in classrooms that provide safe communities for authentic language experiences to reflect that language is a gift from God.

The middle school French program is designed to increase the frequency of instruction and experiences with language instruction so that students will have greater opportunity to use their French in meaningful and authentic ways. This is achieved through the implementation of some longer instructional blocks, a greater number of French blocks, or an “intensified” approach on a rotational basis with other classes.
