The Admissions Policy of Abbotsford Christian School (ACS) serves to guide the school in determining admissibility of new families or individuals desiring to enroll at ACS. The Admissions Policy reflects the mission and vision of ACS, as well as the constitution and by-laws of the ACS Society.
ADMISSIONS POLICY
A. Basic Considerations
1. Prospective Christian parent(s) (hereafter to include guardians) must want their children to be educated in accordance with the school’s Christian program of instruction.
2. Willing to support and sign the ACS Partnership Agreement which includes:
· Expression of a personal faith in Jesus Christ
· Active participation in a Christian church
3. Willing to actively participate in the community of ACS through time, prayer, active involvement and finances beyond tuition requirements as God leads.
4. Willing to adhere to the Education Policies & Procedures Manual.
B. General Polices & Procedures
1. The Admission Procedure includes, but is not limited to:
· Completion of all registration documents provided by ACS including the Pastoral Reference Form.
· Interview by campus principal(s) of prospective families
· Adherence to Waitlist Guideline.
2. Denial of Admission includes, but is not limited to:
· Admission requirements not met
· Classes are full (see Waitlist Guideline)
· Inability of ACS to meet child’s overall needs
3. The principal is responsible for placing the student in the appropriate grade.
4. Parents must submit a $50 non-refundable application fee per student.
5. Kindergarten and Grade 1 children must have reached five (5) and six (6) years of age respectively by December 31 of the year of enrollment. Government funding regulation requires that parents supply the school with proof of age (Birth Certificate).
6. Schools do not receive government grants for students whose parents are not legal residents. Therefore, such students are charged additional tuition fees to cover the lack of such grants.
7. The school reserves the right to expel a student who’s conduct consistently conflicts with the school’s mission and vision. The appeal process is laid out in the Education Policies & Procedures Manual.
8. The principal of the student’s previous school(s) may be contacted, as well as the reference listed by the parent.
C. Society Membership
1. All new families become members of the society and may be fully involved in its governance.
2. All new families are expected to attend the school’s new family orientation sessions.
